11/21/20 - I am writing to you on November 4, 2020. The election results are not in yet, but thousands of more people exercised their right to vote this year than ever before. So many of our members worked exceedingly hard to get people to do just that. Some wrote postcards, some made phone calls, some went to rallies, some “hustled,” and some sent emails. Tim, Sue, Ginny, Linda, Shirley, John, Joanne, Ruth, and I am sure many, many more of you took the time to DO SOMETHING! And now the waiting begins. And this year it will be a longer wait than usual. In NJ the vote isn’t set to be certified until November 20th. This is the norm......most of us just didn’t know that!
We are still in the midst of a Pandemic and in some areas, it is worse now than ever before. We here in NJ are into our second wave for sure. I hope you and your families are well and safe and despite what we thought in the spring, we have a ways to go before the light at the end of the tunnel makes itself known. We are anxiously waiting for medications to save those who have it and inoculations to prevent this virus in the future.
The holidays are upon us soon. Thanksgiving, although not what we are probably used to, still makes us want to count our blessings. Even if it is just a few at our table this year, we are grateful that we are able to see our friends and family on the computer or cell phones. We can speak to each other and check up on our loved ones. I am grateful for all of you, MCREA. You make my life interesting, to say the least. Then we have our December Membership meeting to look forward to. The form to mail in is included in this newsletter. We have entertainment from Montville and an opportunity to see each other. Soon it will be Chanukah and Winter Solstice, Christmas, and Kwanzaa! And finally, it will be New Year’s Day 2021.
I wish you all a peaceful, calm, and healthy New Year. May we be together in spirit AND in person, very soon.
