3/8/23 - MCREA MARCH MEETING / LUNCHEON - ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL EVENT AT THE BIRCHWOOD MANOR IN WHIPPANY!
We Welcome our new members to MCREA and to our March Meeting / Luncheon! Before our meeting, we had vendors who provided discounts through the NJEA Member Discount Program. Our members got a "PASSPORT" to Savings & Prizes, and by completing the "PASSPORT", members were eligible for door prizes.
Another productive meeting where we had our committee reports, old business, new business, and information about our health benefits from a representative from AETNA. Once the meeting was completed, a delicious lunch was served, and we got a wealth of information from NJEA's Tom Predale who gave us an update on Pension and Benefits. We thank all who attended and we look forward to seeing you at our future luncheon meetings and fundraising events.
12/7/22 - MCREA DECEMBER MEEETING / LUNCHEON - ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL EVENT AT THE BIRCHWOOD MANOR IN WHIPPANY!
Today was another successful meeting with a quite a few of surprises added this year.
(Hint - look for a little bird in the photos. Members took a trip to Spain & Portugal, and were amazed with this little bird whistle - when you add water, it sings! Our traveling members performed as birds! To HEAR THEM, go to our Facebook "Morris County Retirees Education Association Philonthropic Fund" page. "Hear" the Pequannock Acapella songs as well!)
Our officers gave their reports as did our committee chairs. Pins were given to our new MCREA members and we welcome them! Thank you to MARY CLEMENTS, NJREA Secretary, for joining us. To add to our scholarship fundraising, we had a "mini trick tray" auction and a"50-50" raffle and we thank our members for participating as we raise money to award scholarships to students who will attend a four year college and choose education as a career. After our business meeting ended, we had our meal and some great entertainment from the Acapella Chorus students from Pequannock High School who entertained us with holiday songs and later introduced themselves adding their goals for post graduation. Between lunch and dessert, auction prizes were called as well as one winner of our "50-50" raffle all for scholarships! Thank you to all who attended and we are looking forward to seeing at our next Luncheon meeting on March 8th!
10/19/22 - MCREA LUNCH BUNCH GROUP DOES IT AGAIN!
MCREA Morris Lunch Bunch group really had fun at “The Exchange “ in Rockaway. They bonded, networked, laughed, and couldn’t stop eating at our informal lunch! Next time? “Hunan Taste”, in November, then “The Barn” in December, then let’s see how they decide! Call Elaine and join us!

MCREA Morris OCTOBER 12TH MEETING / LUNCHEON!
Another successful meeting with our MCREA Morris retirees. Our committee chairs discussed relevant issues and business and guess what? We had new members and we are growing! We also had fundraising events with our jewelry sales as well as a "Mini Tricky Tray" to raise money for our scholarships. Do you know we are #1 in New Jersey with the most scholarships awarded to students who choose education as their career goal? During lunch, we had our story teller, JENNIFER RANU!
We hope to see you again at our December Meeting with a few surprises! Thank you to all who attended!

MCREA Luncheon was another success. Mikie Sherrill spoke as did Darcy Draeger, on behalf of Tom Malinowski. Then Mike Giglio from the Center for Honesty in Education gave a very informative presentation after lunch.

5/15/22 - Morris County Retirees Education Association hosted another memorable fundraising event Tricky Tray for Morris County graduating students 
entering the field of education!
Dedicated MCREA members and future members worked diligently unpacking boxes, placing baskets and items on tables, tagging items and making sure all attendees knew where to go! Such organization and dedication in order to be ready to support fundraising for scholarships that will be awarded to Morris County public school students who choose education as a career in their chosen college / university.

5/1/22 - NJREA 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION of the NEW JERSEY RETIREES' EDUCATION ASSOCIATION at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, NJ
After two years of postponements because of the pandemic, what an opportunity to be able to attend our NJREA 100th Celebration of the New Jersey Retirees’ Education Association at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, NJ on May 1, 2022!
Thank you from our chair ladies Arlene Grabowski Pepe (hostess with the mostess), and Betty Johnston Levine who was not able to attend at the last minute due to complications with knee surgery. This event could not have been planned without past NJREA President Judy Perkins, current NJREA President Joan Wright & officers, and of course the hard-working NJREA 100th Anniversary Committee! NJEA Officers, past administrative staff, and NJREA MEMBERS enjoyed the events of the afternoon as well as an array of hors d’oeuvres and a delicious meal!

Another successful meeting was attended by our MCREA Members. we had reports first by our officers then the committee reports. Thank you for information also from ELOY DELGADO, from the NJEA Government Relations Division. Our guest speaker was STEVE EUGENE from NEA MEMBER BENEFITS. What an eye-opener about cybercrimes, identity theft, hacking, and so much more! Photos below are some photos of our Executive Board Members. 6/9/2021 MCREA MEETING AND SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON
What an inspiring meeting. Once our business meeting ended, the highlight of our luncheon was scholarship awards to Morris County high school students who have chosen education as a career. (Ps we have 144 newly retired educator members! woo hoo!)
*We honored 2021 recipients as well as the students who were recipients in 2020. They are "the best of the best", well rounded academically in their schools, and active in their communities! New Jersey is lucky to have these young scholars as teachers in their state! Congratulations to them. Photos below begin with our 10:30 am business meeting and reports, then our scholarship recipients at noon.

5/12/21 - MCREA GENERAL MEETING
How wonderful to connect with our members, although virtually! The business was discussed, future plans discussed, and this will be our last full virtual meeting! On June 9th our MCREA GENERAL MEETING / LUNCHEON will be both virtual if we can, "hybrid", and in-person. Be sure to send in your luncheon form by June 1st which will be in the June MCREA Newsletter and on our website! We hope to see you all then!

3/10/21 - OUR VIRTUAL MCREA GENERAL MEETING!
A wonderful and informative MCREA March Meeting with over 65 participants. We opened the meeting and heard first from some of our visitors. *Joan Wright will be our new NJREA President after Judy Perkins term expires. She shared a lot of relevant information for us as retirees and asked us to read details in the NJREA Newsletter that was recently mailed. (DA=NJEA Delegate Assembly) *Jacqui Greadington is running for 2nd VP for NJREA as well as DA and Delegate council. *John Zurka is running for DA. *Mary Clements is running for NJREA Sec/Treas. Our members *Joan Jensen is running for DA Alternate and NEA/R & NEA/RA Delegate, and *Bob Carr, Betty Levine, and Arlene Pepe are running for NEA/R & NEA/RA Delegate. Please read their biographies that will be posted in the NJREA Newsletter and remember to vote ASAP for your choices when you receive ballots. We proceeded with officer reports and reports from our Executive Board Members. After the close of our business meeting, *Sgt. Scott McGowan, of the Montville Police Department, gave us detailed information about common scams on senior citizens and ways to prevent becoming a part of them. Another extraordinary Morris County Retirees Education Association, (MCREA) meeting followed by one of our last MCREA events at Zeris Inn, and then finally our program Laughter Yoga!😂 🧘♀️
At our business meeting, we honored Andy Zeris and thanked him for hosting our retiree luncheons & events and congratulate his lucky family who will enjoy him during his free time!⛵️ ✈️
After a delicious lunch, we had a wonderful program that combined breathing yoga with laughter! When children 👶🏻 laugh, they are playing! Today adults enjoyed deliberate laughter which put us in a child-life state! LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE! With all going on with the COVID-19 virus, we need some laughter in our world at least to relieve our stress.

BUSY BEES PREPARING GIFT BASKETS FOR OUR TRICK TRAY APRIL 24TH!
These busy bees worked very hard to prepare gift baskets and store them in preparation for our Tricky Tray on April 24thto raise scholarship money for our Morris County students who plan to make teacher education aa career. There is still a lot to do so join us and bring guests!

As part of the PAUL DIMITRIADIS SQUAD, we supported NJEA & NJREA Educators at the best conference in the state of NJ, The NJEA ESP CONFERENCE, January 31-February 2nd! Welcome, February!
NEW JERSEY PUBLIC SCHOOLS STILL #1 IN THE UNITED STATES! ESP's of the Year were honored by their counties. The ESP of NJ and will be attending the ESP Conference in New Orleans competing against other states. All Wood, currently an MCREA retiree, chairperson of the Paul Dimitriadis Rights Fund, was ESP of the Year in 2015. (ESP=Educational Support Professionals - secretaries, paras, bus drivers, custodians, food service, security guards, etc)

Another successful meeting with our Executive Board and members at Hanover Manor discussing relevant issues followed by entertainment after our meeting and lunch. This photo gallery shows our hard-working committee chairpersons and officers who every day, enjoy their retirement & have fun, but work diligently for our members in MCREA!
Our entertainment was with the Madison High School Jazz Chorus who practice after school once a week for 1 1/2 hours. They are great!
CHRISTMAS IN THE BERKSHIRES - DECEMBER 7TH & 8TH 2019
Kay's trip to the Berkshires where they saw the wonderful holiday displays, the Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge / Red Lion Inn and so much more! There was also a Parade Day! It was 1* when they woke up in the morning! It was brrrrr cold! And of course they did not miss the winter lights in the Berkshires only the winter cold, but all the fun it was!!!

MCCEA had a wonderful turnout for Morris County community members and their children and grandchildren at their FUNFEST! Thank you Ginny Osborne, “hostess with the mostess”, Pres. Laurie McIntyre Schorno & Ann Marie Finnen & members of Morris County Council of Education Associations for a wonderful event! Joanne Treusch Belmonte allowed us to take photos with her daughter & grandchildren too! I was happy that some of our MCREA retirees were able to assist as Santa (Al Wood) Kathy Wood Mrs. Claus, & Susan Lowe Beekman who played the Dreidel Game with the children! I was able to take photos to share with our retiree members, so thank you MCCEA!
